The Past, the Present and the Future!

The Past, the Present and the Future! Celebrating Christmas can be all-consuming and being swept up in the festivities can leave little time for you to take a moment to reflect. As a nanny, you work tirelessly to help to develop a curious mind, an inquisitive explorer and a kind, thoughtful and ambitious child – this is no small feat. As we enter 2019, it is time for you to stop and think about the successes of 2018 and plan your challenges for the upcoming year.

Success

For every year of your life, there is always at least one thing that happened that meant something to you. This might be emigrating to take up a new post, achieving success in your studies, building a new relationship or losing a loved one. Whether these things bring happiness, anxiety or upset, their impact is worth considering to ensure you can continue to move on and strive for success every year. Nannies are capable of amazing things and multitask to achieve not only for themselves but for their charges and the families they work with – this in itself is something to remember and be proud of. The families would be lost without you.

Difficulties

Whilst there will be some months and years that are fantastic and allow you to push yourself to achieve great things, there will always be times when things are a little more difficult, challenging you mentally and emotionally. Remember this is common; everyone has ups and downs and surrounding yourself with positive people who care is the first step to moving forward. As a busy nanny, you are always thinking about others and their feelings and development – make it a priority to think about yourself and your own wellbeing, making changes to make you happy. Everyone needs a little help at times and whilst you are normally the person other people go to for support, you are allowed to ask for help in return – make use of this when you need it.

What will this year hold?

After a jam-packed 2018, it is time to think about what you would like to accomplish in 2019. Why not sit down in your local coffee shop with your pen and paper and make a list of 5 things that you would like to achieve this year. This might be linked to your professional development, travel, family life or personal goals but to achieve world domination, you must start with a plan. Allow your plan to adapt over time, presenting new and interesting opportunities for you to explore – never be restricted by your list but see it as an excellent starting point that will continue to evolve.

Relax and Refuel

Christmas is a busy time of year and before the routine of January life kicks in, make time for yourself to relax, see friends and family and refuel to fight against the lurking winter bugs. Hopefully, your 2018 has been an incredible year – we know that 2019 will be even better.

Happy New Year!
