Easter Activities for all!

Easter Are you struggling to think of some excellent Easter activities to entertain and enthuse little ones over the long weekend? Do you want to engage them in something other than simply gorging on chocolate treats? Then look no further. Easter weekend is the perfect time to get together, create and have some fun - below are some ideas to help.

Easter Egg Hunt:

Whilst this is a classic for a local community, it is also something that can be done in the house or back garden. Hiding lots of Easter treats for children to find is one option – it will leave little ones on cloud nine, potentially covered in chocolate by noon. However, if you are trying to limit the intake of sugar, why not devise a treasure hunt with a special Easter Egg as the end prize. Finding clues, problem solving and getting closer and closer to the egg is a great way to build anticipation and demonstrate to children that it isn’t always about having more and more chocolate but is, instead, about persevering and finding that very special reward at the end.

Creative Crafts:

Artwork masterpieces can come in all shapes and sizes and will give everyone a chance to calm down and concentrate on creating something beautiful. Top craft activities could be:

Easter Bonnet – Help your charge to create a bonnet that represents them and their interests. They can use all sorts of recyclable materials from packets and packaging to create their own beautiful hat and cover it in cars, dolls, monsters or flowers as they see fit.

Egg Painting – Boil some eggs and let little ones paint their own creative designs. This is a fantastic way for children to experiment with colours and lines and see what they can produce. Alternatively, if you are caring for more than one charge, you could have a mini competition or ask them to turn these eggs into different characters with faces. A great way to bring their bedtime story to life!

Easter Bunny – Using different materials, children can either create a picture of the Easter bunny or perhaps even a costume to wear on Easter Sunday. Little chick outfits can also work very well.

Nests, Eggs and Cakes:

Easter is a great time for people to socialise. Therefore, what better way to entertain than to provide some delicious Easter treats with a cup of tea? Encourage your charge to help you make some nest rice crispy cakes or decorate a cake with chocolate eggs and little birds. They will love being involved and feel super proud when these cakes are served to their visitors as an Easter treat.

Outdoor fun:

With the improvement in weather, it is time to take advantage and get outside for some long walks and nature exploration. Family walks are the perfect time to talk, play and feel a part of something positive. The fresh air will do everyone the world of good; the hot chocolate and cake that awaits them at the end will be well deserved.

Be creative and have a wonderful Easter, Nannies!
